Protestors from the Freedom from Debt Coalition, Philippine Movement for Climate (PMCJ) and JSAPMDD marched to the US Embassy in Manila on November 24 to demand for climate justice, particularly for the US and Annex 1 countries to honor their historical responsibilities, curb their GhG emissions and provide reparations for their climate debt.
As part of its continuing effort to contribute to the global movement for change, JSAPMDD participated in the 11th South Asia Social Forum (2011 SASF) held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from November 18 to 22. Under the theme "Democracy for Social Transformation in South Asia: Participation, Equity, Justice and Peace", the alliance and its members organized and participated in several events tackling various issues and challenges that confront countries in the South Asian region.
More than 500 activists marched to the US Embassy in Bali, Indonesia on November 18 to protest the ASEAN Summit and to express calls concerning climate change issues as well as raise concerns over various issues involving people's sovereignty in the South East Asian region.
Aside from the mobilizations and press conferences organized by JSAPMDD and its network, the alliance also conducted lobby activities during the UNFCCC Bangkok Intersessionals from April 3 to 8, 2011.
"Cut your emissions, we demand reparations now! Annex 1 pay your due, No to pledge and review!", these were the key messages chanted by JSAPMDD members during its second day of protest actions right outside the gates of the UNESCAP building.
